Young man dies after being struck by train while returning from paying respects to grandparents

A young man was killed after being struck by a train on the railway line in the Nyaung Thone Pin area of Thanlyin Township, Yangon Region, it is reported.

Local residents found the body of a man who had died after being struck by a train on the morning of October 20 yesterday, it is reported.

The deceased, 27-year-old Ko Aung Thu, had gone to pay respects to his grandparents on October 19, stayed overnight at a monastery, and died as he was returning to his grandmother's house early in the morning, according to statements by local residents.

"He stayed overnight at the monastery and left very early in the morning. We don't know how it happened; he was only about 100 feet from his grandmother's house," a local resident said.

The body of the deceased was transported to the Thanlyin Hospital morgue by the 'Loka A Lin' social rescue organization, it is reported.
