5 Killed, 2 Injured as Unknown Armed Group Opens Fire Inside Home in Sintku Township

In Pale Gyi village, Sintku Township, Mandalay Region, five people were killed and two others were injured when unidentified armed individuals entered a residence and opened fire, according to reports.

Around 7:00 PM on August 20, six unidentified armed men arrived at the home of U Tun Tun Win in Pale Gyi village on two motorcycles and shot at people who were talking inside the house, it has been reported.

"U Tun Tun Win and his wife, the mother-in-law, and two people from the village died. The remaining two have been hospitalized. They weren't village heads or anything like that — in the village, they were well-known, respected people," a local woman said.

The armed group's entry into the home and shooting resulted in the deaths of 5 people, including 3 family members, and injuries to 2 others. The deceased have been identified as U Tun Tun Win, his wife Daw Zar Chay Win, his mother-in-law Daw Win Myaing, and village residents Ko Shan Lay and Ko Tun Myint Aung.

Last July, five men from Nway Yon village in Sintku Township and two men, including the village tract administrator from Shwe Done village, were also reportedly shot and killed.
