North Dagon Building Materials Shop Looted; Owner Killed in Machete Attack

North Dagon home-building materials shop robbed in a brutal attack; male shop owner dies after being slashed with a knife

It is reported that a brutal robbery and murder occurred at a home-building materials shop on U Wisara Main Road, Ward 42, North Dagon Township, Dagon Myothit (North), Yangon Region.

It is reported that around 12:30 PM yesterday, October 5, three unidentified men entered the residence attached to the home-building materials shop, slashed the homeowner with a knife, and carried out a brutal robbery.

"The shop and the house are connected; the house is at the back of the shop. Three men slashed the shop owner with a knife and took the goods. When the shop owner's wife arrived and shouted for help, they fled. It also happened because there was no one nearby at the time. The shop owner's neck artery was severed," said a local resident of U Wisara Road.

According to local residents, of the three men who carried out the brutal attack, one stayed at the shop entrance as a lookout while the other two slashed the male shop owner with a knife.

"When the shop owner's wife entered the shop, the person who was waiting in ambush grabbed and restrained her. When the shop owner's wife became frightened and shouted for help, they all fled," said another local resident.

The shop owner, a 40-year-old man who was slashed with a knife, was rushed to North Okkalapa Hospital as an emergency case, but he died five minutes after arriving at the hospital due to the injuries he had sustained, according to social welfare organizations.

The three men who carried out the brutal robbery fled from the scene of the incident, and it is reported that they are still being pursued and investigated for arrest at present.
