Man Sentenced to Death for Raping and Murdering Underage Cousin, Hiding Body

Death sentence handed down to man who sexually assaulted and murdered his underage cousin, then hid the body

The Shan State Progress Party (SSPP/SSA) announced today that a man who sexually assaulted and murdered his underage female cousin has been sentenced to death.

Sai Sa San, a resident of Loi Keng village, San Phit village tract, Hsipaw Township, northern Shan State, sexually assaulted his 14-year-old cousin, murdered her, and hid the body, according to the announcement.

On June 14, Sai Sa San took his 14-year-old cousin, Nang San Hwan, who lived in the same village, under the pretext of finding her a job. He then sexually assaulted and killed her at a banana plantation near Nam Hu Hnwet village, Baw Kyo village tract, Hsipaw Township.

After the murder, he covered the body with banana trees and banana leaves to conceal it.

The parents filed a complaint with the SSPP/SSA on June 25, and authorities immediately launched an investigation. The perpetrator, Sai Sa San, was arrested on the same day the complaint was filed.

The defendant, Sai Sa San, was tried by the SSPP/SSA headquarters superior court and sentenced to death at 2:00 PM yesterday, August 30.
