A car driven by U Aung Than, a member of the township administration and management committee of the military junta that seized power in Thanbyuzayat Township, sped excessively and crashed into a passenger Light truck traveling ahead, resulting in a three-vehicle collision, it is learned.

The incident occurred at around 8 a.m. on October 19 at the entrance of Daung village road in Naungbo village, Thaton Township, it is learned, and a 'Haria'-type vehicle bearing the Kyaikkhami Seaside Pagoda logo crashed into a passenger Light truck, which then in turn crashed into a three-wheeler traveling in the opposite lane in front of it, it is learned.

"The car driven by committee member Aung Than rammed into the car traveling in front of him from behind; that car couldn't control its speed and hit the three-wheeler in the opposite lane; people were injured; the police station is now mediating; the victims haven't received compensation; they say it happened while he was going to Yangon; his followers were also with him," a local resident said.

The car driven by U Aung Than is a vehicle owned by Kyaikkhami Seaside Pagoda, and because he serves as chairman of the Kyaikkhami Seaside Pagoda board of trustees, he was permitted to use the car, it is also said.

Due to the three-vehicle collision, a woman traveling on the three-wheeler suffered a dislocated wrist injury, a small child suffered abrasions to the face, and a man aboard the 'Haria' car lost consciousness, it is learned.

The injured persons were transported and assisted to Zeikphyu Township Hospital by the Thahton Township Piti Nha Lone Thar social rescue and funeral assistance association, it is learned.
