Opium leaf decoction users on the rise in Hopong; sellers being pursued

In Hopong Township, Pa-O Self-Administered Zone, southern Shan State, there are many users of boiled opium leaf liquid, and most of them are teenagers, so arrests are being made, it has been learned.

On August 27, police under the coup government arrested one young person for boiling and selling opium leaves by the roadside, it has been reported.

"There are many young people and adults using boiled opium leaves. There are also many sellers. It has spread among students, which makes it worse. Arrests are being made," a local resident said.

Locals also said that not only young people but even students are using boiled opium leaf liquid, and it needs to be controlled before the situation gets worse.

Currently, police and soldiers under the coup government are investigating and making arrests of those selling boiled opium leaf liquid, it has been learned.
