A case has occurred in Mingaladon Township, Yangon Region, in which a young man was arrested at his home for military conscription, and although family members tried to secure his release, they were no longer permitted to do so, according to Rangoon Scout Network (RSN).

At around 9 p.m. on October 2, a 30-year-old male factory worker living in a side street off Thukhitar Road in Pauk Kone Ward, Mingaladon Township, was arrested at his home and taken away for military conscription by the ward administrator and a group of followers, it is said.

The family members of the arrested man went to various places, including the township General Administration Office and the police station, to try to secure his release, but officials delayed, and only on the morning of October 5 did they reply that he could no longer be secured for release, it is said.

In addition, at after 10 p.m. on October 6, military junta troops, police, ward administration members, and auxiliary groups jointly conducted guest-list inspections at homes on Khemathi Main Road in (Nya) Ward, North Okkalapa Township, it is said.

During that guest-list inspection, all people inside the homes were made to come outside, and a man walking past the area was also taken away on an auxiliary vehicle to the ward office, arrested on the pretext that he was drunk, according to a report by Rangoon Scout Network.

It is also known that, currently, even within Yangon city, in addition to young people being arrested at their homes on the pretext of military conscription lists, there have also been frequent incidents of passersby being arbitrarily arrested and taken away during nighttime guest-list inspections, so concerns among local residents regarding daily travel and security are further increasing.
