It is reported that near the Kazan checkpoint under the Sarmalauk Police Station in Nyaungdon Township, Ayeyarwady Region, a local security police force arrested and beat a traveler who was waiting by his car, took 2.1 million kyats, and burned the body.

The incident is known to have occurred at around 9:30 pm on October 16 near the Kazan checkpoint under Sarmalauk Police Station, and the victim is known to be U Myo Myint, who holds a registration card from Hlaingtharyar Township, Yangon Region.

"The Sarmalauk police station's local security officer Mya Bhone Aung and his subordinates arrested the man waiting by his car near the checkpoint. After arresting him, they took the 2.1 million kyats in his hand, claiming it was suspicious. When the man refused to hand it over and struggled, they punched him in the face. When the man fell into the water, local security officer Mya Bhone Aung went into the water, handcuffed him, and stabbed him in the back with a knife. He died on the spot," a local resident said.

It is reported that after the local security team beat and killed the traveler U Myo Myint and robbed him of 2.1 million kyats, they forcibly burned and destroyed the body, claiming he had drowned, without informing the family.

On October 17, about five people including Station Chief Deputy Police Inspector Thein Lin and local security officer Mya Bhone Aung arrived at the scene of the incident and immediately cremated and destroyed the body, claiming he had drowned, without informing the families, it is reported.

It is also known that at the end of last year, at the Kazan checkpoint, local security officer Mya Bhone Aung and his team beat a taxi driver who was returning after taking a patient into town, claiming it was past 10 pm, and demanded 800,000 kyats. After that incident, the township police force chief transferred Mya Bhone Aung to another police station and kept him at Chaunggyi Police Station for about a month, and later he was called back to Sarmalauk Police Station, it is reported.
