Taxi Hits Peanut Cart Vendor and Flees Scene

In Yangon's Thaketa Township, a taxi crashed into a pushcart selling boiled peanuts and fled, leaving the peanut seller and nearby people seriously injured, according to reports.

Last night, August 22, at the corner of Ayawun Road and Myint Thar Road in Thaketa Township, in front of the Lyan Phyo food shop, a taxi reportedly rammed at high speed into a boiled peanut cart parked by the roadside and a Taxi Probox vehicle, according to sources.

"The taxi driver seemed drunk. He crashed straight into the cart, then kept driving without stopping. Those hit were the boiled peanut pushcart seller and people nearby," a local resident said.

Due to the collision, those selling goods from roadside pushcarts and two nearby men sustained severe injuries, including scalding burns over the entire body, a fractured left side of the face, and injuries to the left leg, according to reports.

The taxi that caused the crash reportedly fled after the incident, and the vehicle is identified as Taxi-AA/1983, according to sources.
