It is learned that the Prisons Department, under the military junta that seized power, released 3 youths who had been illegally arrested and detained under Section 505(a) at the prison in Gangaw Township, Magway Region, after they completed their sentences.

It is learned that they were released after completing their sentences on the afternoon of October 1, and those released are local youths around 20 years of age from Gangaw area.

"Three children from Gangaw village side were released. There are also others released in other cases," a local said.

The released youths were those arrested when the military junta that seized power marched in and stationed troops in villages in 2023, and it is learned that they were those charged and arrested under Section 505(a) for allegedly 'inciting to disrupt public peace and tranquility.'

Similarly, it is initially learned that some prisoners from Thayet and Magway prisons have also been released after completing their sentences, and it is not yet known whether political prisoners are included among them.
