Revolutionary joint forces withdraw after capturing junta military camp near Momeik

October 2

After the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and revolutionary joint forces successfully attacked and captured the junta military camp on Shwe Myint Tin Hill in Nyaung Ni village near Momeik town in northern Shan State, the forces withdrew, according to ground news sources.

Starting from September 28, the KIA and joint forces launched an offensive and captured the junta military camp in Nyaung Ni village on the Momeik-Myitsone road section, and then withdrew on October 1, it is reported.

"They advanced close to the town and then withdrew. Since the junta has been carrying out airstrikes and heavy artillery fire, the joint forces likely withdrew due to the situation," a local resident said.

Yesterday, on October 1, no sounds of fighting between the two sides were heard, and in the afternoon, the KIA and revolutionary joint forces carried out a surprise drone bombing attack on junta troops stationed at No. 2 Basic Education High School near Momeik town police station, and some junta troops and some police were reportedly injured.

Although the junta regained Momeik town in 2025 with Chinese assistance, revolutionary forces continue to control the surrounding areas and villages near the town, so clashes have frequently occurred, and the junta's administrative mechanism has reportedly not been able to operate for more than a year.
