It is reported that one 3-year-old child was killed after the military junta-affiliated Military Division (44) fired heavy weapons at villages in Kyaukkyi Township, Mon State, despite no fighting taking place.

On the afternoon of October 2, the junta's Military Division (44) indiscriminately fired heavy weapons at villages in Kyaukkyi Township, resulting in one child from Zee Kone village being hit by shrapnel and killed, while one local man from Me Yon Gyi village was also injured, it is reported.

"The 3-year-old child from Zee Kone village was hit by heavy weapon shrapnel and died. From the shell that landed and exploded at Me Yon Gyi village cemetery, one man was hit and injured," a local resident said.

It is reported that the junta has, since around late September, begun indiscriminately firing heavy weapons and also using drones at village tracts in Kyaukkyi Township including Kyauk Phyar, Win Kan, Kha Ywal, and Nga Pyaw Taw, without any justification, resulting in civilian casualties and deaths.

It is also reported that on September 22, a heavy weapon shell fired by Military Division (44) killed one rubber plantation worker and injured another in Zee Pyaung village, Kyaukkyi Township.
