El Niño May Reach Peak Intensity by Late This Year

Scientists warn that a very strong El Niño climate pattern has begun forming in the Pacific Ocean and could become one of the strongest on record.

Australia's Bureau of Meteorology has warned that it is shaping up to be the strongest El Niño in 70 years.

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) forecasts that the current El Niño has nearly a 100 percent chance of continuing until February 2027.

Meteorologists also warn that this year's El Niño could become one of the largest since 1950, urging preparations in advance.
