Ukraine is testing a new type of weapon capable of intercepting and shooting down Russian drone attacks, and it successfully destroyed a target, Ukrainian President Zelensky said on September 15.

The new weapon is domestically developed and produced by Ukraine, and during testing it successfully shot down a Russian 'Shahed' type attack drone, it is said.

However, because some technical details still need further refinement, a little more time will be needed, it is also reported.

The Ukrainian military also announced that in a single night it was able to intercept and shoot down a total of 187 aerial targets, including 93 percent of all drones launched by Russia.

Although this result is a remarkable achievement, more is still needed to fully protect the airspace, the Ukrainian president said.

Currently, Ukraine is prioritizing the production of low-cost and effective drone countermeasure systems, but there are still difficulties in intercepting Russian ballistic missiles.
