US Sanctions 13 Individuals and Organizations for Purchasing Weapons for Iran

On September 29, the United States imposed new sanctions on 13 individuals and companies that have been purchasing and supplying weapons and weapons components for Iran, and the sanctioned entities include organizations based in China, Russia, Hong Kong, and Pakistan.

These sanctions are also a step by the Trump administration, which has been pressuring to end the war that began on February 28 and to economically isolate Iran, and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has also said that anyone assisting Iran's military weapons development will continue to be identified and effectively sanctioned.

Those sanctioned include Seyyed Asghar Alizadeh Tabatabai, who has been purchasing weapons components from China for Iran's Ministry of Defense, and Iran-based Kavoshcom Asia R&D Group and Hong Kong-based EC Mojo technology company, which have been supplying electronic equipment for drone and aircraft production.

In addition, Pakistan-based Cavalier Defense Group Chairman Wasim Pasha Tajammal, MG-Flot shipping company, which has been transporting weapons for the Russian military, and Saha Airlines, which is linked to the Iranian air force, were also sanctioned.

However, Obsidian Risk Advisors has criticized and assessed that these sanctions have little capability to deter Iran's missile and drone threats within the Strait of Hormuz.

It has been criticized and pointed out that the Trump administration is merely displaying a political image of applying intense pressure on Iran, and in reality, the effective impact on Iran is very minimal, almost nonexistent.
