Armed Robber Steals Car at Gunpoint and Flees

An incident occurred on the morning of August 25 in the Buthar Quarter of Lamaing Town, Mon State, where a private car was robbed at gunpoint, according to reports.

A man around 30 years old arrived on a motorcycle and collided with a private car parked by the roadside. He then threatened the woman sitting inside the car with a gun, forced her to get out, and drove away with the vehicle, according to reports.

"The robber was wearing a motorcycle helmet and a raincoat. He first rammed his motorcycle into the car parked in front of the house. Then he pulled out a gun, forced the female car owner to get out, and drove the car away. There was a child inside the car. He left the child on the road and fled," a local resident said.

The stolen car is a black Ford EcoSport with license plate number 1R/7598. The victim has filed a complaint with the junta-affiliated Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 106, and it is reported that soldiers from LIB 106 came and took away the motorcycle the robber had ridden.

Currently, LIB 106 is actively investigating the person who stole and drove away the car. As of this morning, the car has not yet been found, and it is unknown which route the suspect took to flee, according to reports.

Although vehicle robberies frequently occur in Lamaing Town, Mon State, the number of perpetrators arrested remains low, which has led to worsening robbery incidents, according to reports.
