MyoTaw reports that in Madaya Township, Mandalay Region, revolutionary forces launched an attack on junta troops stationed in ambush positions in the villages of Kyeintaw and Konetan Gyi in the western part of the township, killing at least 6 soldiers and seizing weapons, ammunition, and related equipment, according to a statement from the Madaya Township People's Defense Force (PDF).
The attack was carried out as a surprise raid at approximately 3:30 AM on August 13 against a junta column of around 30 troops that had been stationed in ambush positions in Kyeintaw and Konetan Gyi villages.
From the outset of the battle, the revolutionary forces were able to dominate the firing, and 6 junta soldiers fled between civilian homes, with at least 6 confirmed killed. The following day, additional dead bodies were found hidden in the bushes.
During the battle, one MA-11 rifle and one MA-2 rifle were seized, along with helmets, binoculars, and other ammunition. The revolutionary comrades were able to withdraw successfully without any casualties, according to reports.
The attack was carried out by assault squads (1), (2), and (3) of the Madaya Township PDF, along with one platoon from the Mandalay District PDF. The two ambush positions were reportedly located near heavy weapon emplacements, approximately 8 miles from Mandalay city.
